DEMOCRACY TODAY EXPRESSED AS CHEESE

I drew this cartoon out of a growing feeling that democracies all over the world are under increasing threat from a variety of sources. Widespread corruption, the watering down of democratic processes by powerful vested interests, and the usurping of democratic values by charismatic autocratic leaders all the way up to the outright disillusionment of democratic governments by dictators have put democracy itself on the back foot, as if it is being steadily eaten away like this metaphorical cheese.
