I drew this cartoon in response to Donald Trump’s kidnaping of Nicolás Maduro and his renewed threats to seize Greenland by force, actions which have taken Trump to new heights of arrogance and recklessness. Yes Maduro was a dictator and thug and many will rightly celebrate his removal. But this action is way outside the governance of international law, being more akin to one gangster rubbing out another gangster in 1930s Chicago. And if Trump carries out his threat to seize Greenland it has the potential to create a Cuban missile like crisis with Russia as Greenland is in Russia’s backyard just as Cuba was in America’s backyard when Khrushchev tried to deploy nuclear missiles in Cuba back in 1962.
