I originally drew this cartoon back in 2015, but if anything its subject matter is more prescient than it was back then, so I thought I would update it a bit. While it points to habitat destruction as a cause of wildlife stress it can also be seen as a metaphor for the underlying causes of rampant mental illness amongst our young people. Though funding for mental health programs is important unless we address the underlying issues driving this mental illness epidemic, such as the lack of job security caused by work casualisation, unaffordable housing, burdensome HECS fees and the failure of governments to tackle environmental destruction this epidemic is only going to get worse
