The different views of gambling.

Over the years there have been numerous attempts by various community groups, health lobbyists and some politicians to reign in the excesses of gambling, but the underlying obstacle is that the various State governments are financially dependent on the tax revenue that gambling brings in. They are unlikely to ever kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.
