OUR PLANET EXPRESSED AS A GOLDFISH BOWL

I drew this cartoon to point out the flawed logic almost universally expressed by politicians, economists and indeed the public in general that in order to have a healthy society the economy has to be continually expanding. It seems to be that this notion of exponential growth ignores the fact that the planet and its resources are finite. The time to have a rational debate about how to create a healthy steady state economy and what is the viable population that this economy can support without destroying the planet’s ecosystem is long overdue.
